I'd like someone who knows more to explain why it would matter. It 
seems to me that if the computer recognizes the DSL modem and you can 
put in the IP number in your TCP/IP settings that it shouldn't matter 
what version system you have. Does your provider give you some 
software to use? Is that why it needs to be compatible? I didn't get 
any special software with mine. Maybe that's why it doesn't matter.
