Does your router have the option of assigning static IP addresses to a machine? That should work with 8.1. I needed an excuse to buy OS9 anyway, so that's how I solved the problem. 9.1 is slower, but usable on the 6400. And it's much more stable and compatible than 8.1 was. You could possibly gain some speed, and sacrifice some compatibility, and probably save some money by looking for 8.5 or 8.6 rather than 9, is anyone on here using those with a router?
