OS 9 only takes a couple of hundred MB; minimum install = 80MB. There's plenty of room for OS, data, and apps. In fact, a clean install of OSX (without language/printer mods) takes 790MB. That includes 104MB of applications. Personally, I'd leave the rest for temporary data and future expansion. I'd put Classic and data on other partitions/drives. OTOH there's plenty of space for your Classic 9.1 and over a gig left over for applications. This is the misers approach. Disk drives are pretty cheap these days, it can't hurt to have more space than you need, because eventually you won't.
