Hi,

I have a Power Mac 7600/200 with an IDE hard drive and a Promax
TurboMax/ATA-33 AEC-6210 ATA-33 controller. When I boot up off the OS 8.5 CD,
or try to use Apple Software Restore (or pretty much any disk-related
activity that's not simply booting off the hard drive), the progress meter
will freeze at some point and refuse to move. Also, if I try to launch some
applications, the system will do the same thing with the hourglass cursor. I
can still move the mouse, but anything disk-related is fubar, and I have to
Ctrl-Command-Power the thing. I've tried it with several different drives,
including a brand-new IBM (NOT the 75GXP), and have tried swapping the IDE
cables several times. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Grayson
