My 9600 has a G4/450 upgrade and it seems faster than the G3/500 upgrades I
have seen, especially with PhotoShop. I use an external burner with my 9600
so I have both CD drives when I transfer from on CD to another, but an
internal works OK also.

The 9600 is a great computer, with easy access to internals and lots an lots
of memory and PCI slots for almost any upgrade you can think of, including
an ATA/100 card for inexpensive large hard drive upgrades..
