Kim:
According to lowendmac.com:
Of the three models (7300, 7500, 7600), the 7500 is the best buy
if you intend to upgrade the CPU.
The 7600 and 7300 remain somewhat more expensive, due to the
more powerful 604 and 604e CPU, but may also provide the horsepower
you need without the expense of a daughter card. Of the three, the
7500 represents the best buy; the other are two good buys. (Note that
the 7300 is the only one of the three without video input.)
I personally have a 7300, which was the last Powermac to be built before
the G3. I wish I had the A/V capability of the 7500, so for that
reason, I would use the 7500. There is not enough difference between
the two models, except A/V. The bus is controlled by the CPU card, so
the mainboard will not make a difference.
Hope this helps,
David

Hi
I am currently using a 7300 with a G3 upgrade card in it - I'm not
exactly sure which one - but it runs at 288mhz according the the apple
system profiler. I just got a 7500 mainboard with the rca jacks
included.
What I was wonders was this...
Would it make any difference in speed to move my G3 card to the 7500 so
I could make use the the rca jacks? And could a rca video out jack be
added to this piece?
I know that Guru 2.9 says that the 7300 is rated at 45mhz and the 7500
is rated at 50mhz - which to me is not that much of a difference. But
since the 7300 had a 604e to start with, is there any benefits to
keeping everything on the 7300?
I have several 7200's laying around so finding compatible power supply
and box for the 7500 is not a problem.
Thanx
kim
