Well here's the update and thanks again to those who helped! I tried setting the 18GB drive to ID 0, connected it to the end of the cable and removed the dead 2GB drive. NADA. Nothing. Bupkiss. I just end up with a screen that either hangs in a gorgeous shade of grey, a happy mac, or a cursor that doesn't move. I've gone back to the 2GB at the end of the cable and the 18GB on the 2nd connection and set it back to ID 4. Oh well. BTW someone was asking what type of SCSI it was well what I could gather is this :
IBM DGHS-18Y 18GB U W SCSI SCA All in all the drive is working fine but I'm wondering if the dead 2GB will cause problems down the road. What problems I have no idea. Any other suggestions out there besides getting drives that are actually compatible with a Mac?
