128mb dimms are $24 at http://www.datamem.com. Get a couple of them and 
stop using VM. That'll be the quickest speedup (note, if your 80 mb is 
composed of a motley assortment of old 8 and 16 mb dimms, try just the 
128's in matched slots A1 and B1, the 7500 mb supports interleaving and 
that'll get you 5-15% increas in performance. You'll also not have 
problems with the slower refresh on the old dimms.)

Yank the onboard cache. It may not break things immediately, but it will 
break things.

Alas, if your sonnet G3 card is like mine, there are no other 
adjustments to make. Other cards have jumpers or switches to let you 
mess about with those settings but Sonnet's are fixed.
