Only 10 to 30 times faster? :)
I just ran the "Time Drive" application a couple of times. I think it's a pretty old application (it came with a LaCie 170MB portable SCSI drive I have) and I don't know how much overhead the program itself has... I'm guessing it wasn't designed for testing RAM! I was pretty surprised that it only tested 10-30 times faster than the 7200 RPM (cache? I don't know how much) on the internal bus. The program tested different things, like latency and continuous writes and reads.
