I just ran the "Time Drive" application a couple of times.  I think
it's a pretty old application (it came with a LaCie 170MB portable
SCSI drive I have) and I don't know how much overhead the program
itself has... I'm guessing it wasn't designed for testing RAM!  I was
pretty surprised that it only tested 10-30 times faster than the 7200
RPM (cache? I don't know how much) on the internal bus.  The program
tested different things, like latency and continuous writes and reads.
