No, there are some that used DIMMS that are not SDRAM, my router is a P1 233 and it has both simm and dimm slots (not sure what kind but SDRAM does not fit in there)

They also only go up to 128Mb in size too, which restricts the maximum RAM ceiling unless you've got an 8600/9600 (which have 8-12 RAM sockets). >From the G3 onwards Apple used standard PC100 3.3v SDRAM. And there's a big advantage to be had - PC RAM is dirt cheap, no doubt thanks to the big market for it. 256Mb of SDRAM can be had for nearly half the price of a 128Mb DIMM. If you want lots of RAM, the extra initial cost of a beige G3 over a 7x00/8x00 will justified by the cheaper RAM. If you're PC's Pentium MMX I or better, it would have had SDRAM. Older 486's used the same 30 pin memory that pre-'040 Macs use (I have a drawer full of 1Mb and 4Mb SIMMs from a PC friend). I believe the original Pentium-class systems used 72 pin EDO RAM, which also was used in '040 Macs and the first PowerMacs. I'm pretty sure no PC ever used the 5v DIMMs - they went straight to SDRAM.
