On the phone, I also told them that I had ruined 6 Zip disks because of the drives and no longer trusted putting important data on them, so they sent me 6 new disks with the replacement drives! And they didn't want my ruined disks back, either.
When I heard about Iomega's replacement offer (in an internet forum somewhere), the writer had a link to Quicktime movie that showed a corporate offical from Iomega being grilled on some tech cable show, and the exec stated that Iomega would replace ANY drive that a customer felt had the 'click of death', even if it was out of warranty. All I can say is, when I called to get my replacements, it was a no-sweat deal, and they even replaced the disks I said were bad. No complaints here insofar as getting mine replaced (again, that was a few years ago, but they NEVER asked for a receipt, or how old the product was).
