Yes.   Getting easy replacements is really only equitable to the user 
if the replacement media comes with your lost data already on it.

Plus ZIP is the most expensive media out there.   True a single disk 
is $5 - $10, but when you consider that it only holds 100 MB, you'd 
be hard pressed to find a more expensive (and less reliable) form of 
storage.    I guess floppies are more expensive, but I think they're 
more reliable.

If CDR is not convenient enough for one's uses I recommend 
considering some the nice MO drives from the likes of Fujitsu.  I 
have a couple of of the DynaMO 640 drive with which I am very happy. 
Their newer drive puts 1.3 GB on a disk about the size of a ZIP disk. 
True, the drive will cost more than a ZIP drive.
