Pretty much any SCSI cd-rom drive will work. Unless you also want to be
able to burn cd's on your computer that's all you need. If you did you
could get a CD-RW or CD-R drive. I might even recommend getting a PCI
IDE card and getting an IDE burner, they are dirt cheap (Lite On drives
are very good and under $70 for a 40x or higher)

I guess you could go on ebay and get an original apple drive for under
$25 as well.

        Does anyone know of a source for new SCSI CD readers (Is that 
CD-R or CD-Rom?)  as replacement parts in 9600's? Hopefully ones can
