It sounds like it is a Netscape problem.

Do you have your Netscape set to leave messages on the server? Unless 
you want to read your mail on multiple computers, there's no real 
reason to do that. I'd suggest you turn it off (assuming it's now on) 
and see if the problems improve. You may also have some mailbox 
corruption problems. What version of Netscape are you using?
