What devices do you have connected? Here are a few things to double check:

There are some (like the older SCSI UMAX scanners) that prefer a specific
spot in the chain. I.E. first, last, or perhaps before or after another
specific type of device. You might also try swapping the last device on the
chain with another device and terminate only the new "last" device. I've
seen terminators (built in, add on passive and active and especially
resistor terminators, the little comb shaped ones that plug into a hard
drive in groups of 2 or 3) go bad.

Also double check the SCSI ID #s. Most Macs allow the same ID # on the
external and internal SCSI Bus, but some devices (once again, UMAX scanners
are a good example) will not play nice if any other SCSI device has the same
ID #.

The plug in some external cases that connects the external SCSI ID# setting
can be plugged in backwards causing the displayed ID # to not be the actual
set ID #.

Never rule out a bad device in the chain. Try removing devices one at a time
to see if that helps.
