I would avoid the performa line. They were a consumer line and have many limitations. Apple was trying to keep up with the low cost of PC's and so corners were cut with the performas. They were good computers for their time but the limitations out weigh the benefits for todays demands. In the long run you will pay more to keep up with them. It is better to buy the 7300, 7500, 7600 and on up. They can use the cheaper RAM 4k refresh and upgrade processors are cheaper, not to mention you have 3 PCI slots for further expansion. Sonnet even makes a G4 800mhz processor for them. Actually I wish I could get a good deal on the 95/9600 which have even more PCI slots. There are many good deals on these, particularly the 7500. They were pretty expensive machines when they came out. I recently picked up a 7500 at a garage sale for $35 which included a 17in monitor, Personal laserwriter, trackball, keyboard, mouse and a 56k modem.
