I have to thank Pete in the UK for suggesting that it may be a bad DIMM. I pulled all the memory out (6 sticks) and tested each one individually. Techtool pro couldn't find anything wrong with the DIMMs but Gauge 1.1 did find one bad stick. I just put the computer back together and now I'm going to try the programs that made it crash before.
