"Ask" is actually a corruption of the old english, "acsian". Use of 
"acs" by modern speakers is thought to derive from dialects in which 
the change never happened. A number of english dialects have been 
preserved in relatively isolated parts of the US, even after they died 
out in their homelands. This is also true of french in parts of Canada.

Alternates of "cache", on the other hand, are almost certainly 
"spelling" pronunciations and not native to any dialect. Education is 
not always a good thing.
