When I put my Power Logix G3/300 in my PowerTower, I first
had to install appropriate software (a control panel and an
extension I think) before the card would work correctly. 

Much like you, I installed the card and then went to put
the software on and ran into problems. I had to remove the
card, reinstall the cache, load the software and then
reinstall the card.

IIRC, after booting I was able adjust the setting and then
one more reboot for them to take effect.

>From there everything ran beautifully.
