You guys were right on.

The instructions that shipped with my card distinctly
said to install the card first, then boot up, access
the CD and install the extension for the cache and
enable it...  Hard to do when I couldn't access my CD
;-)

I found that by downloading and installing the
software, then rebooting, the CD trouble went away... 
I still had trouble attaching to the internet the
first time up, but after another reboot everything is
fine.

I think my recommendation to anyone else would be
exactly what you guys said.  Install the software
BEFORE putting in the card, or at least copy the
folder to the Hard Disk where it will be available
when you need it.

Everything is working quickly and cleanly this
morning.
