Seriously......I suspect that your HARD DRIVE may be ready to croak. If you are having trouble writing to the drive (installing from CDs) then the hard drive may be flakey...
Borrow a bigger SCSI hard drive, or a 1 or 2 gig external drive, put a System on it and try again.
