An upgradeable zif carrier daughtercard is possibly the best way to
go with the beige pci macs barring a full blown quicksilver purchase -
various zifs are available upto G4 500 or you can buy a cheaper G3
300/400/500 zif and upgrade later and though not easy to swap it's not
rocket science.
I'm sure higher rated zifs will become available eventually.
