It could be that something (small) has gone wrong with your DVD/CD
drive, or system software and the drive now needs a DVD/CD in it at
start in order to not cause your machine to hang when starting. Here
are my thoughts, in no particular order of importance.

1.) Just live with your system with the way it is, if you can remove
the CD and use other CD/DVD's without the system giving trouble.

2.) See if other CD's in the drive will still allow startup. That
would indicate the drive as the problem.

3.) If no other CD/DVD will allow startup, then maybe there is
something on that CD that the drive/extension needs to boot up. I would
imagine that this (obviously) is a _new_ problem and would indicate
either the drive or the system software as the source of the problem.

4.) Change out your current CD/DVD drive with a _known_ good one, using
the the version of the CD/DVD extension that you were using before. If
the problem still exists, then the problem is likely a.) in the system
software b.) in the system hardware.

5.) You may want to clear your PRAM.

6.) Check your drive cable and attachments.

7.) If you have made any changes to your system lately, remove them to
your previous situation and check your SCSI number selection or your
IDE/ATA master/slave jumpers on ALL of your drives to make sure they are
properly setup.

8.) Try booting up with _only_ the CD/DVD driver enabled. If problem
still exists, it's likely an extension conflict and you have a couple
hours of easy, but boring work ahead of you to figure out which other
extension is causing the problem. This should have been thought #1, but
I always think from least likely to most likely. If you have added any
extensions lately, disable them first.

Whew! I'm exhausted! I hope that helps.

Sincerely yours, Grizzlygiant
