Hello -- I was just given a 6500/225 as a donation to our little
startup school. I am the 3rd grade teacher and plan on using it in
my classroom. It is running OS 9.0.4 and has 64MB ram. It seems to
have been partitioned with a 3 GB drive. It has a ATY, 264GT-B
display card and a PanaMedia PM17 monitor.

I'm starting out pretty blank but it occurs to me that it might make
sense to upgrade the machine a bit at least in terms of RAM. I
gather that it will run OS 9.1 so I may upgrade it though the donator
has insisted that I thoroughly obliterate her personal files which I
gather may take reformatting the disk. She has apparently no disks
with the OS on it. I only have a couple of upgrade disks (8.6 and
9.2.1 -- I personally use an iMac DV running OSX).

Sigh, I'm brand new to the list so I'm looking for direction. I've
tried searching for a 6500 page which might have suggestions on what
sorts of upgrades might make sense on such a machine but I haven't
found anything yet. Depending on the price, I imagine I'll want to
upgrade the Ram which apparently can be maxed at 128MB. Can anyone
help me get started by suggesting things for me to think about or
point me to web page which might help?

Thank-you for any help.

John
