I have an upgraded 9600/350 (Running from a Quantum Atlas
10kII HD hooked to Adaptec 29160 card, and storing files in two
Maxtor 160 GB HD's hooked to ACard ATA 133 IDE card, 1.5 GB RAM) that
has been happily processing Photoshop files for a few months now.
I replaced the stock 350 MHz processor with a Sonnett
Crescendo PCI G4/800 and the whole operation came to a grinding halt.
Basically the computer freezes when doing ordinary things like
opening and working with the Extensions Manager Control Panel,
running unsharp mask in Photoshop, ect. Random freezes.
I quickly yanked the Sonnett. The 9600, with the 350 MHz
processor back in place and a little tuning up, is back to normal.
Has anyone else had this experience with the Sonnett G4/800 in a
9600? I'm wondering if it is my particular configuration?
