** UPDATE ** I have been able to restart the computer after unplugging
the ATA's data cable from the controller card (still installed in the PCI
slot) and starting off of the internal SCSI drive (9.1) or a system CD. So
no problems with RAM, PCI cards or the processor.

Since my attempt to update the 9.1 SCSI disk to 9.2.1 something has
happend to the *other* drive, the ATA, that had 8.6 on it. If that drive is
connected, I get a grey screen with a frozen pointer. If I remove it's data
cable, I can startup normally from the SCSI. Before this, the ATA drive has
been my everyday-use drive and virtually problem-free.

My issue now is salvaging the ATA drive info (and the drive itself, if
possible). I've tried unplugging the data cable until the computer is in
the process of starting up, then plugging the data cable back in. The ATA
doesn't mount, as I'd expect, but programs such as Norton, Disk First Aid,
Mt. Everything, and Drive Startup do not see the ATA drive after scanning
the busses--very depressing.

Does anyone have any ideals where I can go from here to try to mount and
save my ATA?
