I have a newertech processor card for a 9600 type computer. I have not been
able to identify it, other than there is a sticker on the back that says M333
166, so I'm assuming it could be a G3 333.

They all do, and with a five terminal voltage regulator clipped to the distal
end of the heat sink.

Does yours have a metal extension to bring it up to full Apple height?

The Newertech G3 cards were intentionally made short so as to fit in the
clones, yet these cards were shipped with a black metal extension which brought
them up to Apple (really, IBM) standard height.

A typical board is marked "<LOGO>/newer tech/BOTTOM/DT351 REV C/NEWER
TECHNOLOGY" on the bottom, and "<LOGO>/newer tech/NEWER TECHNOLOGY/DT351C/TOP SIDE"
on the top.

Each board has a serial number sticker and a model/speed sticker applied to
it.

An example of the model/speed sticker is "DT 351/I250/125". This is a 250 MHz
G3 with a 125 MHz backside cache.

If your card stated "DT 351/I333/166", then it would be a 333 MHz G3 with a
166 MHz backside cache.

A 3.5 clock multiplier would be required, in which case the actual bus speed
would be 47.4 MHz.

Most NewerTech cards run the bus a few MHz under the speed at which Apple
runs theirs, so 46-47 MHz on a 50 MHz bus machine is not unusual.
