Is it locking up everyday and you switch it off and wait till 3 the next day
to see see if you have better luck? Or do you restart by key combinations
(control+command+start/shut? Is disk first aid then auto run?

Try starting by holding down shift key - to disable extensions.

Rebuild desktop (option+command when starting)

Put thru disk first aid, norton's, tech tool or the like

If you have other disks to start, do so and do above.

Clear PRAM

see that RAM etc are all seated firmly

replace battery

I would try the things that don't require opening case first
