I doubt it has anything to do with your particular problem, but there's a patch you need for using the Apple StyleWriter 4100/4500 with OS 9. It's available from Apple's support web site. Also, when you use it, the printer works fine but you can no longer do background printing and I think (IIRC) that it won't do a desktop printer. John
