The Sony CD-R/RW to which I referred in my last tome now works as a CD-ROM only if I put in a CD which has already been burned. The USB 1.4.1 software which came with the Belkin USB PCI board seems to be supporting it, at least in read-only, and it shows on my desktop. But, if I put in a blank CD-RW disc, it won't recognize it and after several seconds of digestion and other considerations, it kicks it back out without showing it on my desktop.

My Apple System Profiler correctly identifies the Sony CD-R/RW as connected to one of the USB ports.

However, it appears the the Toast 5.2.1 is strictly for OS 9x and above and that I need an earlier version of Toast if I want to be able to burn any CDs. I found none available on a Google Search and none on eBay. Any suggestions on a hack for 5.2.1 or am I just going to have to wait until a Toast 4 or earlier 5 comes along?

TIA, Fred
