Wow, that was a quick leap based on little data. The gray label iMac 9.1 install disk is a universal install disk (CD version 1.3), as OWC implies: "System Requirements: Mac OS-based Apple computer that has a G3 processor stock OR has a G3 or G4 Upgrade installed."
It's a heck of a price. It recently took me from from 8.6 to 9.2.2 on a Umax S900/XLR8 G3. A breeze. No iMac files. No problems. No public indictments.
The grey disk was a clearance item. However, I am not finding any iMac files; the system seems to be performing as it should on my 7300/G3/400; no apparent conflicts.
What I really liked about the installation was the clean-up process when several windows popped up advising me that I had two of various extensions and what I should do about the extra.
I'm satisfied, even happy. Now if I can only get the CD-R/RW to show up on my desktop; it appears in Apple System Profiler when it CD-RW is turned on.
Thanks to all for the assistance!
