Thanks for your comments Jim. (Jim: "However, it looks as though you set the extensions on the 8.6 drive and then updated the 9.0.4 drive. Maybe that's why it took longer than expected.")
There are two stated methods for using the updater in the Read Me: (1) by starting from a CD (with 9 on it? It does not say! Leaving me confused because I want to know if the CD can be say 8.5 or 8.6 as long as the HD it is being installed on has 9), (2) by starting from a HD. With 9 on it? Again, it does not say and I want to know if the HD can be say 8.5 or 8.6 as long as the HD it is being installed on has 9) What is the updater looking for? What is going on here? Anyone know? (Jim: "You can set how you want to access the function keys in the keyboard control panel.") Perhaps I did not explain things well: the system kicks in to ask me to set the function key when I use function keys in PS (in which these keys are already assigned to macros). Sure, I can easily assign function keys outside PS to do simple things but not the things I want and have done under 8.6 and 9.0.4 in PS. Anyone use PS, actions (sort of PS internal macros) and have function keys as key commands for these and use 9.1? Methinks, 9.1 is rather different to 8.6 and 9.0.4 david_elmo > Subject: Using the 9.1 updater ... > From: David Elmo <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > I got the 9.1 updater downloaded from Apple, ran it as a test on a hard disk > on which I have 9.0.4 this way: I started on another hard disk on the 7300 > (G3 XLR-8 334 MHz 350+ RAM) which had a perfectly good 8.6.
