Perhaps changing the sampling rate will give you an acceptable quality sound while reducing the file size so you can capture the sound for a longer time.
Sounds sort of logical Rich. Problem is, I don't think I'd be able to squeeze enough extra space out of Sound Recorder to accomodate more than twice as much. If you know what I mean (the one hour it handles now into the two and one-half hours I want handled).
As for "stitching together" smaller files, I don't think that'll ever be a problem. I have Peak LE (haven't used it yet) but I sorta remember from reading the manual that, if not actually "joining" it permits Peak's audio processing (removong hums, clicks, cut-and-paste editing, etc.) to be done "between" separate audio files (so, for example, I can take a slice out of File A and drag it into File B, and you can, say. set it up to remove hum in all the files at once).
So Peak's got this cross-file capability. To get that, but more straightforwardly (i.e. easier on my brain) is one of the major reasons I was looking for software that'll just transfer big audio files as one thing to begin with.
