Does this thing require drivers of any sort?

No drivers at all. Since my network is all the same brand with the same default settings, all I had to do was connect the power supply, connect it to my beige's ethernet port with a regular ethernet cable, set the network to connect via ethernet and away I went, no drivers at all. The 810 even works with PlayStations and other gaming boxes that can network via ethernet.
