I got a 7500/G3 (xlr8) Mac up and running at the local computer center; the only Mac there, amidst many, many PCs. I have a question about it, however.
The previous owner had put in a USB upgrade card. And the only thing he plugged into it was a keyboard and mouse. Now, in the process of improving the performance of the Mac, I had to do numerous restarts and desktop rebuilds and the like. I found the USB keyboard to be a huge nuisance at this stage: it wouldn't work with extensions off. IS THERE ANY GOOD REASON to switch from ADB to USB on an older Mac? I can't think of one. Any partisans of USB out there who like it on these older Macs? What do you do when you have to fix the o.s.? Just never use Extensions Off? Is there a work-around to this problem? Since I had to do force restarts a number of times before I improved system performance, Extensions Off seemed inevitable.... and the USB keyboard and mouse bothersome. timo -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
