 Out of curiosity what is the driving force to have the latest OS on an older
 machine? Is it the new software that will only run on the latest OS, is it
 the older software that has a great new feature in the latest version, or is
 it that the OS is so great on its own that you will put up with bugs and
 sluggishness just to use it? If I missed a reason let me know (like new
 hardware that will only work with the new OS, cant afford a new machine,
 etc).
 Now.......That is an excellent question!! Why "force-feed" an OS on a Mac
that was never intended to use it.
<snip>

The reason is this: my dad likes to have his computer the _most_ upgraded as possible. I don't see why. Personally I would just leave it at OS 9 or Jaguar, but it is my dad's computer so it's up to him. I have a Beige G3 233MHz that is my web server on our cable internet connection, and it is also my email computer (thus I am emailing from it now). it is _VERY_ slow so I was also considering a little speed boost (current system is 10.2, but I only went to OS X for the Apache Web Server integration). Will this so-called SCSI problem affect my old world G3 here?

Thanks, all, for your input! this is my most successful thread yet!
