It's worth saying that there are numerous bugs in Panther that are a PIA even on a new G4/G5 (see macfixit.com, et al).

Apple have seeded 10.3.3 to ADC members in the past week so it may be worth waiting.

FWIW, my G3 iMac is staying at 10.2.8 until I see more positive results than negative ones.

Do not become so enamored of the Squeaky Wheel Effect. People do not post to the Maxfixit, et. al sites when nothing goes wrong.

And nobody (well almost nobody) posts "It's still working" messages. You really have to look at the negative responses and determine if it's a common problem or specific to that individual. That is in part why when someone posts a "It doesn't work" message and specifies the set up I'll post a "It's working here" response if my system is the same or close. One it tells the original poster that it can work and they aren't up a creek sans paddle. Two it tells others that this person's problem while not necessarily unique isn't necessarily common either.

We've upgraded some 30 systems here with *no* problems, probably several hundred across campus with similar lack of hassle.

simple rule for upgrading:

Make sure it isn't broken *before* you upgrade.
