i've got an 8029 driver, i can't remember where
from though, it has coax and cat5. i'm using cat5
all the way. but i'm not really fussed about
running at 10 or 100 as it is only doing
browsing, email and instant messaging. (network
wise anyway).

There is another thing I could do... Lurking
around somewhere I've got a Madge PCI Token Ring
card and drivers do exist for them... but that
setup would be waay to much of a pain as I don't
know how to bridge token ring to ethernet using 1
pc that has both flavours of networking in it.

As far as I know, the 8029 card DOESN'T have a
mac driver. Does the card have a connector on it
for a coax cable? If it does, then it is
definitely an 8029.

The 8139 does work however, which is the 10/100
card. It can be a bit fiddly, but they work
fine. I have one running in my 7220 (aka 4400).

Go here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1
-3.aspx?series=16&Software=True#16Others. You
must have OS8.5 or higher though.

I have read before that the DEC 21040 card will
work under Mac, but I must admit I didn't get one
working. It might have been the card was faulty
though as it was pulled from an old PC.

I think another lister mentioned that this card
SHOULD be natively supported by the OS.

Hope that helps

Gavin
