As long as it shows the correct, hardwired MAC 
address burned into the chip and is running MacOS 
on its own (it only came with 32mb ram.....) 
 i'll be happy.

Maybe, depends on the PCI bus uncertainty I 
mentioned.

Run BeOS. You'll be shocked how much better, 
faster and stuff your hardware
seems. The run MacOS (up to 8.6) under 
SheepShaver, which runs MacOS as a
native app under BeOS and as fast as MacOS would 
run on your hardware
anyway. :-P You can go fullscreen and swich work 
spaces to go between MacOS
and BeOS.

Yes, if one exists, *and* the PCI bus behaves 
itself. That is probably going
to be the issue.

Dunno if NE2000 drivers are available for Mac's, 
but NE2000 compatible it
is.

If you can get a RT8139 card and  driver, you can 
have 100mbit networking!!
RT8139 is a popular chipset, not NE2000 
compatible though.
