The PCI riser card from a 6500 can't be used because it's too big to physically fit in the gap. As for providing the power, it could theoretically because a) The Boards are exactly the same and b) The 5500 board generates it's own PCI power.
Really? That's a shame. It looks like there _could_ be enough room, but if the riser is too tall, then nuts.
Is there any reason why a 5400/5500 riser couldn't be used on a 6400/6500 board?
Are there any other reasons why a 6500 board wouldn't work well in a 5400, say? Of course, I already know they are supposed to be interchangeable.
I got the Mac today, but it turns out that it's not a 5500 after all. It was rather misrepresented on eBay, but that's ok. It's a 5400/200, but I think most of my questions still apply (except as regards video).
Does the 5400 really support MORE memory than the 5500? I see that the 5400 has 8MB of RAM on board bringing the total to 136MB. Where is the limitation on the RAM? Is it a ROM thing or a controller thing? What would happen if I stuck a 128MB DIMM in there?
