I don't know anything about the BEFSR41, but if it is like mine, it does allow each computer to have its own ethernet line to it ... then each can access the internet independent of the others (well sort of independent ... the router firmware should be handling the routing ... one computer doesn't have to be on all the time to allow any kind of connections ... just the router) ...

Maybe the BEFSR41's manufacturer can help with the specific router's setup? Asante helped me.

Sorry I cannot be of more help ... similar setup does work with my macs and pcs ... a little different setup relative to the OS's, but the idea of eahc computer independent of the others works ...

I need to share a router with my wife's PC running XP. Using a BEFSR41 wired Linksys router with Alltel DSL. Finally got the XP machine configured to work with the router. Now its time to get the old dinosaur up and connected. It's a 8500/120 running 8.6. Worked fine on the DSL modem by itself, but I'm tired of having to exchange Ethernet cables and I'd like to get online at the same time as my wife. Any suggestions? I can't get it working now.

I'm confused, the BEFSR41 has 4 downstream ports on it. Why not plug a second cable from the router to the Mac?
