Just got in and caught your post.

I'm also an OE user but never had this happen.  I was hoping that the option
key method would work as that has fixed one of my problems in the past.
Have you tried running the 'Microsoft First Run' in the OE Folder?  If it's
not there, you can find a copy in the Internet Express Folder as well, it
will attempt self repair on the OE as well.

Have you tried holding down the option key while trashing the address?
Might force delete it like in other Mac OS actions.  Or might not... :)
