OK, R.A. Cantrell, lets try something else, I reread your original post and your prob is getting your new copy of OE up and running right with your old address book:
"I have a phenomenon in my Outlook Express that I can't quite understand or deal with. There is a blank entry in my address book. If I try to delete it or open it, it crashes the program. I'm concerned with it because I'm trying to export the contacts to a new copy of OE If I try to export to a folder, it only exports a dozen or so entries and then crashes". This is what I would do if I had your problem: Before installing any new OE I would rebuild the database and compact the messages (as explained before) in the old one. I would save the enclosing folder (Identities in Main Identity in OE folder) somewhere on your disk (desktop is fine) and even back it up to CD or another HD for good measure. I would then put the old OE folder in the trash. I would install the new OE. Then replace the "Identities" folder in the newly installed folder with the old, or at least the components you need to keep. I would not use the import command from the file menu. Try this and let us know. In all this, I am maybe not appreciating which versions of OE you are using? I am basing advice here on 5, basically. David Elmo > Subject: Re: [PCI] OE conatcts > From: "R.
