I wrote (two minutes ago):

Sorry to bother the list with the previous question.
Changing ID to 4 solved the problem. I should have
done some more troubleshooting before fireing off the
e-mail.

So how come the scanner doesn't seem to need to be
terminated, by the way? Should I get a terminator
block for it for good measure?
