I always wandered what those were for :-)

Seriously, though, I've never used one simply because I never purchased
anything that didn't specify that it had either a dedicated pass thru port
or internal termination.  Guess I've been lucky.

The biggest thing I always try to remember is that termination doesn't
always work.  From an electrical standpoint, one would think the cabling
would be reliable, but in practice, things work when they shouldn't, and
don't when they should, with all kinds of variations in between.  I've never
had a situation where I could leave the termination off and it work
_reliably_, though.  Its always been my screw up...
