USB 1.1 is no faster than SCSI 1 (and most the times way slower in my experience!).
USB 1 is 12 Mbps (1.5 MB/sec) peak, 8 Mbps (1.0 MB/sec) sustained -- assuming only one device connected.
SCSI-1 is 40 Mbps (5 MB/sec) sustained. (built-in external SCSI bus)
SCSI-2 Fast is 80 Mbps (10 MB/sec) sustained. (built-in internal SCSI bus on later Macs)
