Surely Nick is asking about on his computer, and one can make just such
assumptions. I used to hate running anything but OS 6 on my SEs because of
the almost-law I observed of things being slower the higher and bulkier the
OS. BTW, I LIKED font DA Mover...there! I have said it :)

What's "development work"? Depending, you maybe quite right. This is my
view: sure, get X to look and play with like a toy on a PCI, but for any
serious work use earlier OS. If you want X, it is easier and more cost
effective in the long run to go for a G4 with its bigger bus etc.

Put that 450MHz in without delay even for running OS 9, it will be a great
improvement. Get lots of RAM.
