The drive is a replacement that HP sent for a Windoze box and has been
giving me a problem.  Yes, the Mac just formatted and ran with it, but then
failed it when I ran a drive test on it.  I did not try writing too it.  I
am trying a low level format to see if it can be resurrected.

So, how long should it take?

Follow up question, am I wasting my time?
