Hi Larry. Close Word.....search your hard drive for a file named normal.dot
and delete it.....reopen Word and hopefully you won't get the error...if you
do, then you will need to check your Word Startup folder and your Data key
in your registry....here's an article I wrote that explains how to do that:

good luck

Linda

Thanks Linda and the deletion of Normal.dot did not do it so I am off to try
the other.
Larry

Well I have tried everything and I still can not get word to open without the
VBE6.dll error.
I tried to use Run and winword.exe /a and that opens word just fine.
I then deleted the normal.dot (which has never come back so far.) and that
did not change anything.
When I checked the startup folder I had Finereader5.0 in there but it will
not let me delete it. So I uninstalled Finereader and it is still in there.
I then deleted the data file in the register inside the word folder. Still
the same.
I then checked for the Proofing tools in the register and I can not find this
file! Figure it could be the problem but after uninstalling and reinstalling
Word still no such file. IE HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared
Tools\Proofing Tools.
I will now find the Eraser Utilities from MS and see if that helps.
TIA
Larry

I have now uninstalled Word, used the Eraser Utility, and reinstalled Word.
I still have to error message and two files during the installation of word
gave an error 1904 and in essence said that MSDAORA.dll failed to register
and MSRCLR40.dll failed to register.
In checking for the Proofing Tools they still are not there and the
Normal.dot is not there but Word will open if I use Run winword.exe /a.
I have no idea where to go from here.
TIA
Larry
