WFWORDZK.DOT and FineReader5.DOT which is from that startup file I can not delete. When I go thru the explorer to the startup file and then right click on FineReader5 then select Delete it say are you sure you want this in the recycle bin I click yes and then a message comes up saying you cannot delete this file, Access Denied. That is why I uninstalled FineReader but that file remains. Is it possible because I can not get into word that the Normal.DOT is not recreated? Does it recreate when I go in thru the switch /a. If it does I can not find it thru the find routine. Thanks for hanging in there with me. There is only one more factor that has been found but it is with Windows. I do a File Check and it comes up with 10 files that are missing or corrupt in Windows but I have been unable to get them restored thru the Win 98 disc as it keeps asking me for what folder and I have been unable to find the files in any folder on my Win98 CD.
